Synthesis of highly thermostable polymers (polyimides and related compounds, vinyl polymers) that can be functionalized to prepare materials with desirable mechanical, chemical, optical, electronic and electromagnetic properties. Preparation of films of chromophore-containing polymers possessing non-linear optical properties and photosensitivity. Synthesis of polyimides that can be used as matrices for composite materials with controlled structure (partially crystalline polyimides, semi-interpenetrating polyimide networks, composites of polyimides with coal tar pitch) and have high fracture toughness combined with excellent tribological characteristics. Synthesis of supramolecular polymer-based systems: metal-polymer complexes on the basis of transition metal ions with electroluminescence and electrocatalytic properties; comb-like amphiphilic polymers intended for preparation of Langmuir–Blodgett films; compositions on the basis of various polyheteroarylenes.

 

Laboratory profile

Synthesis of polyheteroarylenes (polyimides, (poly(phenylquinoline)s, poly(indole-carbazole)s) and organic-inorganic composites on the basis of these polymers; establishing the relationship between chemical structure and physical properties of these polymers; search for practical applications of the synthesized materials.

 

Lines of research

  • Synthesis of new heterocyclic polymer structures (poly(phenylquinoline)s, poly(phenylquinoline carbazole)s, and poly(phenylquinoline-indole-carbazole)s) possessing charge carrier and luminescent properties.

 

  • Synthesis of segmented copolyester-imides and copolyurethane-imides for a new generation thermoplastic elastomers, search for new polymers that can be applied as materials for composite membranes used in nanofiltration, pervaporation, and gas separation.

 

  • Synthesis of thermoplastic and thermosetting polyimides and organic-inorganic systems (nanocomposites) based on these polyimides intended for manufacturing highly thermostable reinforced structural materials.

 

  • Synthesis of polymers for preparation of Langmuir–Blodgett films that are intended for use in microelectronics and microsystem technology.
