Studying equilibrium, kinetic and dynamic regularities of the interaction between cross-linked or soluble hydrophilic polymers and biologically active compounds. Design of new biotechnological sorbents and biomedical materials on the basis of synthetic and natural polymers. Development of biotechnological processes of synthesis of highly pure pharmaceuticals, the methods of binding biologically active substances by highly selective cross-linked and soluble polymers, methods of enzyme immobilization. Study of flocculation of biological fluids by soluble polyelectrolytes. Synthesis of nanocomposites for biomedical applications based on water-soluble polymers and nanoparticles of biogenic elements. Investigation of the formation and morphological characteristics of nanostructures by molecular optics and hydrodynamic methods.

Training and coordination of educational activity of the basic chair (chair of medical biotechnology of Peter the Great St Petersburg State Polytechnic University at the Institute of Macromolecular Compounds of RAS).

 

Lines of research

• Development of methods for controlling selectivity of sorption of biologically active compounds on polymeric sorbents.

 

• Development and study of functional soluble and crosslinked polymeric materials intended for use in removal of toxic substances (uric acid, glucose, endotoxin, etc.) from human organism by efferent treatment.

 

• Synthesis and study of biospecific polymers for further use in preliminary purification of cultural media and native solutions of antibiotics (including antitumor and antibacterial preparations). Development of «down—stream» processes of preparation of high-purity pharmaceutical substances (antibiotics, enzymes, etc.) complying with international pharmaceutical standards.

 

• Studying processes of formation and physico-chemical properties of hybrid polymeric nanocomposites based on particles of biogenic elements. Development of enzyme immobilization methods involving use of nanoparticles of biogenic elements; application of these methods in creating prolonged action preparations, increasing their stability and activity.
